Would you consider hosting a House Party? Gather five to twenty friends. We will bring our ReproWarrior Interactive Art and provide an introduction to our work or provide an interesting presentation on Reproductive Rights topics of interest to your group. Contact our Education Lead Charlie Gaebler-Uhing at c.gaebler-uhing@lwvmilwaukee.org

Would you like to suggest a Community Outreach Public Event for our ReproWarrior booth and Garland of Choice? Contact our Community Outreach Coordinator April Hartman at april.groth@gmail.com.

Conversations with the Waukesha Friends of the League

Conv_waukesha_friends.jpeg

Dr. Charlie Gaebler-Uhing, a retired Adolescent Medicine Physician and co-chair of the Reproductive Rights Committee was invited to present to our Waukesha League Friend Group. The setting was intimate which allowed for numerous questions and good discussion. It also involved a few glasses of wine

Enderis Park Farmer's Market

enderis_park.jpeg

ReproWarriors took their Garland of Choice to the Enderis Park Farmers Market. Although it was a stifling hot day, thanks to April Hartman and Gail Sklodowska, 27 ribbons with personal messages to our legislators were hung, a personal story was shared, and two neighborhood women offered to help with future events. A good day!

Brookfield/Elm Grove Coffee and Conversation

Kathryn Randall and Charlie Gaebler introduced the ReproWarrior Champaign at the Brookfield/Elm Grove Coffee and Conversation. They were impressed with our “mixture of colorful art and activism to empower advocates to fight for reproductive freedoms”.

Locust Street Festival

RW_Locust_Street_Festival.png

ReproWarriors took their Garland of Choice to our first street festival on Locust Street. The response was wonderful. We interacted with a very diverse age and ethnic background audience regarding our long term goal to codify Reproductive Rights in WI Constitution, the League’s new Unite and Rise campaign and assured attendees why everyone’s vote matters in WI (i.e. four votes can determine a ward win in purple WI).

More than 125 ribbons, with personal messages, were hung on our Garland of Choice. Special thanks to Charlie Gaebler-Uhing, Lorna Grade and Gail Sklodowska for giving this type of outreach a chance.

Hands Off Rally

April_5_Hands_Off_Rally_w_Colleen.png

The joyous Jaqueline Von Edelberg from Arts4ImpactColleen Golomski and Gail Sklodowska braved being trampled by the thousands of attendees who gathered for the April 5th Hands Off Rally at Milwaukee’s Federal Courthouse. The selfie station survived (yep, that is our colorful tent in the top right photo) but our Garland of Choice had to be reigned in as the crowd size swelled.

Maternal Health Awareness

Charlie Gaebler-Uhing and Gail Sklodowska were invited to participate in the Mequon & Milwaukee Rotary Club Diversity Club event for Maternal Health Awareness. Charlie was on a panel discussion and we had a LWVMC table with healthcare information.

University Of Milwaukee GenZ Fair with Planned Parenthood

UW_Event.jpg

The Reproductive Rights Committee kicked off their ReproWarriorscampaign with an intergenerational event held at UW-Milwaukee in February, 2025. They joined forces with Milwaukee’s local Planned Parenthood Generation Action team to attract Generation Z attendees in addition to LWV members.

The venue was fair-like with attendees moving from booth to booth given their interests and time constraints. A key booth included a short presentation on the two-prong strategy of protecting and expanding reproductive freedoms via the judicial and legislative paths. The importance of the April 1st WI Supreme Court election was emphasized.

Other booths included the identification of mis/dis-information on social media, how to take personal action in ways that work for you, voter information, the Garland of Choice Art Activation inspired by Arts4Impact and the work of feminist artist, Niki Johnson.

The committee’s efforts are a pilot to attract and engage youth to advocate for the LWVUS policy position….”that public policy in a pluralistic society must affirm the constitutional right of privacy of the individual to make reproductive choices”.
