Championing Issues that Matter Most to You July 23, 2025

Now more than ever specific issues call out to voters. In the words of the mighty former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Tip O’Neill “all politics is local”. As bleak of a political environment as we find ourselves, there are still structural issues that all interface and alignment that create the lifeblood of our democracy.

It’s imperative that League Leaders from local Leagues to state Leagues. From voter services committees, to board members, to members of communications committees all over the map find and elevate the issues that speak to them, and call them to action. A harrowing fact is that 60M Americans didn’t vote in the 2024 presidential election and that speaks volumes. The choice to abstain and not make an active decision to exercise your right to vote is a loud act of resistance. Instead of abandoning those voices or leaving them behind, how do we invite all voters to the table for a conscious conversation.

This webinar will be a roundtable discussion that focuses on the challenging yet ever evolving conversations around issues. Whatever issue that speaks to voters and compels them to use their voice as their vote is the energy that LWVUS must harness to effect lasting and ever-present change to dispel apathy and breathe new life into our democracy.
