The focus of the forum is on DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) and on policies that have separated families while in ICE custody. The forum will provide deeper understanding of these two key immigration issues and their impact nationally and locally, and promote awareness of the League’s policy advocate role.
Facilitated small group discussions will be held from 12:15 to 1:00 p.m. for those who would like to participate. Panelists:
Dr. RACHEL IDA BUFF teaches history and comparative ethnic studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she also directs the Cultures and Communities Program. She is the author of Against the Deportation Terror: Organizing for Immigrant Rights in the 20th Century.
Atty. ED FALLONE is an Associate Professor of Law at Marquette University Law School and a member of the Undocumented Students Task Force at Marquette University.
MARGARITA GARCIA-ROJAS is a UW-Milwaukee undergraduate student majoring in Latin American Studies and History.
KATHLEEN DUNN will moderate the panel. She recently retired from a 25-year career as a talk show host at Wisconsin Public Radio.
